Designers Transform Loved One’s Voices Into Custom Sound Wave Rings

A Japanese startup has found a way to harness the power of words and turn them into stunningly beautiful jewelry.

EncodeRing

Encode Ring transmit three-second phrases into sound waves, which they then transform into a custom-made ring.

EncodeRing

The sound waves are different for each person, depending on the words spoken and the tone of their voice, so every ring is totally unique.

EncodeRing

The shape itself might be abstract, but the wearer alone knows what it means. It’s a gorgeous way to say “I love you” in a totally unconventional, personal way.

EncodeRing

The rings come in a range of metals from stainless steel to high-end platinum, but they’re not cheap — prices start at around $2,000.

You can find out more — and record a message to see how it’d look in ring form — at their website.

This Is The Powerful Reason Why 191 Pairs Of Men’s Shoes Were Laid Out On A Beach In Australia

For the first day of Movember, early visitors to Australia’s stunning Bondi Beach found 191 pairs of men’s shoes laid out in the sand, highlighting the number of men in Australia who take their own lives every month.

More than six men commit suicide every day in Australia, and it’s the leading cause of death among males aged 15-44.

DailyTelegraph

The installation, on one of the world’s most iconic beaches, was a stark reminder that this month isn’t just about growing a funny moustache — it’s about raising awareness of male suicide, as well as prostate and testicular cancer.

“We wanted to bring awareness to the gravity of the situation,” said Movember co-founder Adam Garone, “Very few people know the extent that [male suicide] is impacting our community.”

DailyTelegraph

“Over the course of a month there’s around 190 men take their life and the idea was to have a pair of shoes for every adolescent boy and man taking their life.”

It’s a topic close to Garone’s heart, as eight of his friends have committed suicide in the past few years.

He believes part of the problem is men refusing to open up and talk about their feelings, which leads to problems spiralling out of control.

DailyTelegraph

“What we want to try and inspire is for them to think differently about how they’re tackling this and for them to talk with their mates, their partner, or seek some kind of help.”

College Student Complains About Her Neighbor’s Noisy Sex Life, Gets A Very Unexpected Apology Note

Jenna Levine, 19, is a student at Syracuse University in New York, US. As well as the usual stresses of exams and essays, Jenna had a more unusual problem — her neighbor’s very noisy late-night antics.

Jenna, who lives in the university’s halls of residence, took to Twitter to complain about her, er, passionate fellow residents.

Twitter

She decided to post a note to the occupants of Room 338, politely asking them to keep their noisy nocturnal frolics to a minimum.

Twitter

“Hello neighbor, please have sex a little more quietly please,” she wrote, “Some of us are trying to nap and not be reminded of how alone I am… feel free to make all the love you want. Just please, make it nasty at a lower volume. Thank you!”

Shortly after delivering her note, Jenna received a reply — a bar of chocolate and a note from her noisy neighbor on a card (covered in bananas, hilariously).

Twitter

“Dearest neighbors,” the reply read, “I’m so, so, incredibly sorry about that. I didn’t realize how loud I was being…” started the note, before going on to offer some words of comfort to “lonely” Jenna.

“Hey, don’t worry, you’re not alone forever. The right person will come along when the time comes. I was single for 18 years.”

Twitter

Jenna’s hilarious tale quickly got thousands of shares, as people loved that the story had a happy ending.

We just hope those neighbors keep their promise and “make it nasty” a little quieter in future…

The Internet Can’t Stop Laughing At This Hilariously NSFW New Skyscraper In London

londonscraper

Designs for London’s latest skyscraper have just been unveiled, and a lot of beady-eyed Brits have spotted a very rude shape that the architects appear to have missed.

Metro

Yep. When viewed from the top, it looks like a massive penis (and, er extra bits).

Metro

Chinese developers, Greenland Group, may have an £800 million budget for the building, but clearly the design needed a little more thought.

Spire London, as the 67-storey building will be called, will house 765 luxury apartments with infinity pools, gyms, cinemas, and cocktail bars, and is scheduled to open in 2020.

Metro

New names already being suggested for the building include the Towering Innuendo, the Crystal Phallus, and even just The Penis, to join the Walkie Talkie and the Gherkin, London’s other iconic skyscrapers.

And the best part is that it’s really close to London City Airport, so people arriving by plane will have a charmingly phallic image to greet them as they come in to land.

Metro

Hilarious.

This Woman Gave Birth In Her Car Outside The Hospital. Seven Months Later, She Received A $7000 Bill.

South Florida, US, resident Paula D’Amore was ready to give birth in a comfortable hospital delivery room, but her little one had other ideas.

Facebook

“We drove up. My husband ran out, and I said, ‘She’s crowning’ and her head came out,” Paula explained.

Baby Daniella just couldn’t wait to meet everyone and was born in the back seat of the family’s SUV in the car park of the hospital.

Facebook

“To me, it was beautiful. It didn’t matter if it was in my house or in the car, in the hospital — it didn’t matter.”

By the time the nurses came out to help Paula with the birth, her husband had already caught the head and little Daniella had arrived.

Facebook

Then, 7 months after the unorthodox delivery, Paula and her husband were in for another shock — the hospital had sent them a bill for a whopping $7,000.

Despite the fact that Paula hadn’t even set foot in the hospital to give birth, she received a full delivery fee including charges for a midwife and delivery room that she never used.

Facebook

“I mean, like, yes, charge me,” says Paula, “But not $7,000.”

While she did receive aftercare in the hospital, it’s pretty obvious that Paula didn’t exactly use all of the hospital’s birthing facilities.

“I knew that I was responsible for $5,000. I get it, I’m going to pay the bill. That’s not the issue. I look at this delivery charge, and I think that’s a little outrageous.”

Facebook

The hospital has so far refused to comment, and has made no moves to adjust Paula’s bill.

Share if you think agree the hospital’s actions are totally outrageous!

This spooky house in Mississippi, US, is a crumbling ruin, but inside everything from dolls to divorce papers lies untouched.

Mirror

The time capsule, nicknamed the “Hoarder House” has been abandoned for years and is popular with explorers and photographers.

Mirror

28-year-old photographer Bullet snapped these eerie shots recently, and attempted to piece together the home’s mysterious history.

Mirror

“It’s pretty much a time capsule, having been owned by a woman who rented out the rooms for $300 a month.”

“It’s hard to tell what happened. There are letters dealing with divorce, her marriage, letters to famous actors asking them to come live with her.”

Mirror

“It looks like the owner just got up and left.”

“I was scared at one point because the ceiling above us shifted around I thought it was going to collapse on us.”

Mirror

“It’s odd because you’re in what was someone’s home.”

Mirror

“You’re seeing what was their personal life and you’re left to wonder what happened to have caused this.”

Mirror

The historic 5,000 square foot property was reporedly built by a wealthy businessman and farmer in 1876, and sold to his wife in 1911.

Mirror

She sold the house following the Wall Street Crash in 1929, but the new owner couldn’t keep up loan repayments and it was abandoned in 1937.

Mirror

It’s been in the same family since the 1980s, but it’s been totally untouched.

Husband Writes Hilarious List Of Requests To The Other Guy When He Discovers His Wife Is Cheating

husbandnote

There’s nothing worse than discovering your spouse has been cheating on you, but one anonymous husband penned a hilariously light-hearted letter to the guy stealing his wife.

Giphy

The letter, titled “To The Man Doing My Wife”, was posted to Craigslist and, instead of threatening or insulting the other man, known only as Jacks S., simply offers a few requests.

“To the guy doing my wife. You know who you are. Yes, I know. no, I am not angry. I would just like to ask a few things of you.”

Craigslist

1. Please stop leaving the seat up. I keep getting blamed and it is starting to get old.

2. You may be giving me a chance to fishing more often, but please stop drinking all my beer. If you have to have a couple while you visit (god knows I drink plenty before I find her attractive), but please leave me a few as I have to be there longer than you.

He also made a polite request for the other fella to “use something disposable to wipe off with”, after finding a sweatshirt last week that was “crusty”. Ew.

Giphy

“Please do not tell my children that you are their uncle, they are young, not mentally challenged,” he continued. “When she asks, ‘Do these pants make me look fat’, sat no. You may think giving a different answer will make her think twice about eating a gallon of ice cream a day, but all you are doing is giving her a reason to go buy more pants that she will look just as fat in.”

“Stop eating the baked goods. The brownies you are were from my mom for my birthday. My wife has not cooked anything that good for years and if she does she will not share.”

“Try shifting your weight when you sit in my chair. The recliner that I rarely have time for … has a groove in it that forces me to roll to the left.”

Craigslist

“Lastly, I would like to thank you for taking her to lunch on Valentine’s Day. She was not as hungry as usual and only ordered one meal. I may be able to use the money I saved to take the children to a movie.”

“I hope you can help me with these items,” ends the brutal note, “It may become awkward if I have to confront her. If you can do this for me, I will give you a heads up on when I will be gone and for how long, so that you don’t feel rushed.”

“P.S., I am going to tae the kids to the Great Wolf Lodge on the 3rd April for four days. I have a bottle of vodka above the fridge if you find yourself low on beer.”

And the spurned husband signs the note, “Thanks, this was not written by anyone named Jack S.”

Instead of going crazy and throwing his wife out,  definitely-not-Jack seems to be making things as smooth as possible for his kids. Hero.

After leaving university, Kenton Lee traveled the world. In Nairobi, Kenya, he met a little girl who was walking barefoot and had an idea that would change the lives of thousands of children in extreme poverty.

BecauseInternational

Kenton noticed that many children in Nairobi didn’t have shoes, so their feet were covered in cuts and sores.

While most people think of poverty as a lack of food and the constant threat of starvation, but many children in developing countries lack basic items of clothing, and Kenton was determined to fix this.

BecauseInternational

Shoes can be expensive and, as kids grow so fast, they need new pairs of shoes much more often than adults. So, if parents can’t afford new shoes, these kids just go without. Kenton met children who had repurposed too-small old shoes by cutting them open, or attaching scraps of cardboard to them.

But what if you could create a shoe that could grow with the child? Continue reading to see Kenton’s amazing invention.
